My Story

This is the shortened version of my experience which started a couple of years ago now, where before Christmas time I developed some really bad hemorrhoids.  I tried all sorts of immediate fixes, creams etc…and but struggled to shrink them at all.  Then, just after Christmas, they got worse and worse, and the pain was excruciating.  I went to see the doctors and they started me on antibiotics.

It made no difference and at New Year I had to cancel any celebrations and spend the whole period on my own in pain and misery.

Then what developed was a perianal abscess which no antibiotic would kill.  This swelled into a balloon shaped object around my bottom, and in the end I could hardly walk.  I managed to get into emergency feeling very ill, and they took one look at it, and the next thing I was in theatre having the whole thing cut out.

The recovery took 1 year.  If you can imagine having a big slice of your bottom cut out, then for that to heal it was going to take time.  In the end I had to under go another operation to cut out some more infection, before it finally cleared up, and I was able to sit properly again.
